I am hoping that someone on this site can help me determine the value of this bottle of inherited Pernod Fils. This is an unopened bottle that was kept in a liquor box in a liquor cabinet for who knows how long.

Meadow of Love absinthe is produced by Cheryl Lins of the Delaware Phoenix Distillery. Made only in small batches (30 liters), Cheryl is basically a 1 woman show. Due to the relative newness of absinthe to the US market, I’ve been sceptical of US produced absinthes. Even though Meadow of Love has gotten rave reviews, I still was somewhat reluctant to try it. I’m hooked on the European absinthes. But due to the prodding of a good friend (THANKS Melissa), I decided to give it a try. Upon opening the bottle one experiences a nice, yet not overpowering herbal aroma. It has a lovely golden-green color also. The louche forms rather quickly and is very thick and the taste has a very pleasant herbal bill, but was a bit too mild for my taste. On my second sampling I poured a bit more into the glass than I usually use, and the result was near perfection. It has a most pleasing herbal flavor with no one herb being overpowering. And a it has very creamy mouth-feel also. I’m very happy to report that due to Meadow of Love, the US is now a strong contender in the worldwide absinthe market. Delaware Phoenix also produces Walton Waters absinthe, which I can’t wait to try. Way to go Cheryl! You make the US proud!
