Absinthe Halloween Shot

This might sound a bit extraordinary, but for Halloween I just prepared a special Absinthe Shot. As we have Halloween I stood in the supermarket thinking of a special ingredient to create an Absinthe Halloween shot as a welcome drink for our upcoming Halloween party. Hmm, what can I buy… I thought of pumpkin, the symbol of Halloween. Then I moved to the canned vegetable section and found pumpkin pieces in vinegar. You know these little orange pieces you add to a salad. My idea, put it in a shot glass, and fill the glass with Absinthe. I bought it and at home I used Gold68 as the prefered Absinthe, as this one mixed perfectly with the sweet and sour taste of the pumpkin. Let´s see how guest like it, it´s special, and I´m sure, the later the night, the more interest for this drink will come up…

Scheduled to begin filming next year “The Absinthe Drinkers” stars Keith Carradine, John Hurt, and  Tim Roth. “The Absinthe Drinkers” tells the story of a talented young woman (curiously named Artemesia) painter’s desperate struggle to succeed in the male-dominated art world of 19th century Paris and Florence – and the dire consequences of her descent into their world of debauchery.

Although not specifically about absinthe drinking, I’m sure it will have some great absinthe scenes.

Digestif, last year voted the “Best Place to Chase the Green Fairy” in Phoenix, closes it’s doors today. It was the first place in Az. to take absinthe seriously and give it the attention it deserves. If you look at some of the older posts there are pictures taken there last year at an awesome absinthe dinner that took place with special guest Ted Breaux. This is truly a sad loss for the absinthe community! Goodbye my old friend, you’ll be missed :(

We just received a new Absinthe at Absinthe.FM. Absinthe République, which is the ALANDIA version of Absinthe Coeur d´Absinthe from the Lemercier distillery. Coeur d´Absinthe aka Coeur d´Absinthe already received great reviews, for example in the French Absinthe forum heureverte.com. Coeur d´Absinthe also won the bronze medal at this years Absinthiades in Pontarlier, France. It is a triple distilled (results in a very smooth taste)  Absinthe Blanche with some special ingredients like gentiane and thistle. We can highly recommend it.
