Republique Absinthe

I really like this one! It is one of the smoothest, mildest, yet potent absinthes I have had. It has a very refined flavor, that at once is delicious and at the same time goes down like water. At 136 proof it’s quite strong, but at the same time I can’t detect even a hint of alcohol. This is one I’d love to drink sitting out by the pool in the Arizona sun. Experienced absintheurs will, I think, appreciate, the fineness of this and newbies will not be put off by a strong flavor, as I find is often the case.  If you’re thinking of trying this one I’d really recommend getting two bottles as once you start drinking it you won’t want to stop,  and the bottle will go way too fast (I know mine did :) )

A very well written review, but my long-considered first buy was to be the Strong68, but I believe I’ll either have to add this in to my order, or declare it my first. Wadding into the pool, as it were.

I do wonder about the specific flavor notes you hit on? Because I would really prefer a sweeter (but still traditionally flavored) absinthe, as I’d probably drink it in the common area of my complex while enjoying a hookah so I’d want to choose a tobacco to compliment the flavorings of the absinthe.

    Cheers. [:

Hi Emilio. If you want a sweeter absinthe I think I would recommend the Swiss La Bleue Clandestine. It is one of the few absinthes that I can drink without sugar. The Strong 68 is just what it says – strong. You might want to try it after you’ve sampled a few others. The Republique would also be a good one to start with due to it’s milder flavor. Cheers and Happy Holidays to you.
