Hm... My buddy and I picked up some absinthe yesterday and did a shot straight, and lukewarm.... burned like a mother... realized the error of our ways when we saw it was 124 proof. ouch.

Tried it traditional since, and it's better... still pretty fricken strong, but I'm sipping a glass currently...

That sounds very interesting! I almost always drink my absinthe in the traditional way, but I think I'll give that a try.

I have had a shot over in the UAE and it's called a flaming Lamborghini. 1 shot of Absinthe. sugar in a spoon. dip the sugar in the shot then light it. Blow out the shot and shoot. Then flip the glass(rocks glass preferred)over onto a napkin. Take a bent straw and inhale the vapors from the glass. I used Le Tourment Vert and everyone at the party loved it!

That sounds like an interesting drink. From the sounds of the ingredients (brandy, bourbon, and sugar syrup) it sounds like it'll already be pretty sweet. I think I'd try a stronger, less sweet absinthe. If you try this drink please leave a message and let me know how it is.

I'm new to the whole Absinthe experience but i found a recipe that calls for 1 part Absinthe, chilled water, 1 part bourbon, 1 part brandy, 1/2 part sugar syrup, 6 drops Angostura biiters and 6 drops Peychaud bitters. It says to fill and old fashioned glass with ice pour in the Absinthe and water and set aside then shake the remaining items together in a shaker with cracked ice. it says to discard the watery Absinthe (which seems like a waste) but any way, you strain the mixture into the flavored glass.
Sounds interesting, i'm curious as to which of the Absinthe you might use to "flavor the glass" for this drink, a sweeter one or a stronger not so sweek one???

I like to drink it Hemmingway stlye. A glass of champagne with 6 drops Absinthe. That´s a good one! You can also add a shot of Red Bull when you like.

Here's one that I like: 1 shot of absinthe, 1/2 shot of vanilla vodka, 1/2 shot of rum, the rest of the glass filled with ginger ale. It's kind of spicey and really tasty. Give it a try!
