I just found out that yesterday was good friend and absinthe entrepeneur Mike Schallehn’s birthday. Mike is the mastermind behind both Absinthe.FM and Alandia. I hope all of you out there will join me in wishing Mike a very Happy Birthday, even if it is a wee bit late . Also, Mike’s second in command, Christian, will be cellebrating his “B” day on Friday. So Happy Birthday to Chris as well!
It was exactly 5 years ago today that Switzerland re-legalized absinthe after , to the day, a 100 year ban. That’s great as it gave us the wonderful Suisse La Bleue Clandestine absinthe, one of the best on the market and available here at Absinthe.FM . Coming up Friday – the 3 year anniversary of the re-legalization of absinthe here in the US.
Ted Breaux, producer of the Jade Absinthe line, is back in New Orleans this month where he’ll be hosting an absinthe taste testing event at the Absinthe Museum of America on Friday, December 18. It is from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. at 823 Royal St. He’ll also be giving a lecture on the history and myths of absinthe at Pravda, located at 1113 Decatur St., on Saturday, December 19 at 2:30 p.m. Both events are free to the public, but you need reservations for the lecture. Reservations can be had by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 504-523-0903. I wish I lived closer as this would be lots of fun!
